We are now accepting applications for the 2007-2008 school year for Grade 1-Prep (Age 5) through Grade 6!

Application Procedure
We recognize that for many families this may be the first time you have applied for your child's admission to an international school.  The process of applying to a new school can be time consuming and complicated. It is our intent to make the process as "friendly" and as clear as possible in order to ensure that we have provided all the information necessary to help families make an informed decision.  Please contact us for any clarification or explanation that you may need.

We require the following in order to complete the application process:

Step 1 - Documents
◇  Completed and signed admission application form.
◇  Copy of immunization records.
◇  Official school records from previous school attended (1 year of academic records for students applying to grade 1; 2 years for students applying to grades 2 to 5). These documents must be translated into English.
◇  Recent standardized test scores, if available.
◇  Photocopy of the student's passport and birth certificate.
◇  2 passport photos (1 attached to the application form).
◇  Non-refundable RMB 1,600 application fee. If student is accepted, this will be applied toward school fees.

All documents and fees must be received before application process can begin. Completed, signed application forms can be faxed to us at You can also save them as e-mail attachments and send them to admission (at) aisw.org , or drop them off at our office.

Step 2 - Testing
In order to ensure that AISW is a suitable placement for each student, the following students will be asked to complete testing before final determination regarding their application is made:
◇  Student who is transferring from a school where English is not the primary language of instruction.
◇  Student who does not speak English fluently.
Please note that additional testing may be recommended (on a case-by-case basis) by the school's director.

Step 3 - Decision Criteria
Admission decisions will be made after all application documents have been received, and once testing and interviews are completed. Admission decisions will be based upon whether we can reasonably expect a student to succeed academically and personally within AISW's English language-learning environment. In making this assessment, the school will evaluate each candidate's English language proficiency, demonstrated academic achievement and social/behavioral history.

Step 4 - Admission Status
The school's director is responsible for making admission decisions.  The Admission Office staff will inform parents of one of the following admission decisions:
Offer of Enrollment: If accepted, the student will be placed in the appropriate grade level.  Parents will be notified of placement and fee procedures.  Payment of fees will confirm placement.
Not Eligible: The applicant does not meet AISW requirements for admission if the school determines that it cannot provide an educational  program that will best meet the child's learning needs.
